Bramhall Co-Op Set To Re-open
2 Jul 2019The Co-op serves-up a new-look food store in Bramhall (Thursday, 4 July) following a six-figure investment. The store is set to re-open following a near £700,000 programme of works.
The Co-op’s Dairyground Road food store – which runs on 100% renewable electricity – supports twenty local jobs, and includes an in-store bakery, Amazon Lockers and Costa coffee dispenser, alongside its focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas, hot food, food-to-go, award-winning wines and essentials.
The 2,700 sq.ft. food store opens between 7am – 10pm daily, and also brings a funding boost through the Co-op’s Membership scheme. Members receive a 5% reward when they purchase own brand products and services, with the Co-op giving a further 1% back to local causes.
Compostable carrier bags are also available at this store as a more environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastic bags.
The compostable carriers are offered in Co-op food stores where the Local Authority accepts them as part of local household food waste recycling. Priced at 5p – the same price as the conventional plastic bags that they have replaced – customers who forget their bags-for-life can carry their shopping home, and then use them as a food waste caddy liner in the home. The bags can be turned into peat free compost, and are approved for home composting.
Craig Barnes, Co-op Area Manager, said:
“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in our Bramhall store. It is our aim to establish our stores at the heart of local life, and make a difference in our local communities. The store has a great new look and range and the Store Manager, Qamar, and team look forward to welcoming customers into the store and, to serving the community – it’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently.
“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op, and that the Co-op gives back to its Members and the community – our Members help us to make a difference locally, raising money for local causes simply by swiping their Membership card when they shop with us.“
The Co-op was awarded the title of “Grocer of the Year” at this year’s Grocer Gold Awards.
The Mayor of Stockport will be celebrating launch day and visiting the co-op on Thursday 4th July 2019
