Bramhall High School – Christmas Concert Extravaganza
23 Dec 2016One of the best musical highlights of Bramhall High school’s year so far has been our Christmas Concert.
In front of an unprecedented audience of over 300 parents, our amazing students performed once again with professionalism, enthusiasm and supreme confidence. Over 150 musicians took part, including pupils from our wonderful neighbouring primary school, Ladybrook.
As is tradition, the concert opened with the Swing Band who put together an amazing medley of Christmas tunes to whet the appetite of our enthusiastic audience. There were some superb individual contributions on display too, notably from Harrison Smart (voice) and Josh Henshaw (alto saxophone).
Our String Ensemble treated the audience to fine renditions of ‘Hidden Carols’ and ‘Sleigh Ride’, once again led by our string specialist, Mrs Snape. Notable chamber group performances followed from our wonderful woodwind musicians, with contributions from our Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone players. The quality of these performances was a real tribute to the fine work of Mrs Coe, our woodwind specialist. The first half finished with over 60 performers from our Musical Theatre Group. Led by the effervescent Mr Pickton, the group performed a traditional rendition of ‘Silent Night’ and a truly inspiring hit from our forthcoming musical, ‘High School Musical’. That will be a show to see! Tickets are on sale now at main school office or phoning 0161 439 8045
After the interval, the Intermediate Orchestra (with musicians from Ladybrook Primary School) treated the audience to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Rockin’ with Frosty’. In total contrast it was then the turn of some of our members of Rock School, with performances from the highly polished year 8 band ‘The Outsiders’. Throughout the evening we also had some outstanding vocal performances from Khalisah Murray, Lauren Potter, Ana Goldrick, Ciara Boss, Harrison Smart, Rachel Jones and Lola Gorrod. So much talent!
After the truly festive audience pleaser ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’, the concert was brought to a close by the Senior Orchestra, performing ‘Christmas Swing-a-long’, ‘Ukranian Bell Carol’ and the ‘all- in’ finale ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’. The audience were literally blown away, as was Headteacher Mrs Fox, who was attending her first Christmas Concert at Bramhall High School.
