
Bramhall & Woodford Rotary – Scarecrow Festival 2016
10 Jul 2016Coming soon….A Scarecrow Spectacular from 3rd to 17th September. Following the enormous success of first Scarecrows on Holiday event last year which raised over £1,500 for Bramhall & Woodford Rotary supported charities.
Centring on Bramhall village itself and it will run from 3rd until 17th September
The scarecrows’ work in the fields and gardens is done for another year and they will be converging on Bramhall Village to begin their celebrations of anniversaries, births and christenings.
There are four categories for entrants and judging will take place on Saturday 17th September at three venues around the village:
- * Barclays Bank – local shops and businesses
- * The Village Square -schools, clubs and children’s organisations
- * Methodist church for family and individual entries.
- * Tableaux for groups of Scarecrows.
You can get a creation kit for just £20 or re-enter last year’s model of £10.
To create a Tableaux the costs are £35 two kits, £45 three kits and just £50 four kits.
They can be obtained by contacting Maggie at [email protected] or through the Club website www.bwrotary.org or the Facebook page Bramhall and Woodford Rotary. After that you have free rein to dress your scarecrow however you like. Props are allowed or you can make your own scarecrow and enter the competition for just £10.
All profits will go to our Purple4Polio campaign, a new initiative to continue to raise money to eradicate polio throughout the world..
Shops and businesses are being encouraged to display their scarecrows outside their premises for two weeks from 3rd September for shoppers to enjoy and attract people to our lovely village centre. Who will be first to spot Billy Bow with Bella and the twins, Bobby and Belinda? Out and about every day!
The Bramhall & Woodford Rotary Club are very pleased to announce that this event is being supported by Redrow who are currently developing the Woodford Garden Village.
There will also be music and dance throughout the village from 12 noon on the final Saturday.
Also Stockport MBC have once again very kindly agreed to waive parking charges in their car parks in Bramhall on Judging day.
