Children try rugby thanks to Redrow and Sale Sharks

20 May 2019
CHILDREN living at or near Woodford Garden Village were on to a winner when Redrow teamed up with Sale Sharks giving them an exclusive chance to try rugby.

The community coaching session formed part of a hospitality package Redrow agreed with Sharks and was offered to young residents of Woodford Garden Village, plus pupils of nearby schools and members of local sports clubs as part of the homebuilder’s commitment to creating thriving communities.

Anna Evans-Kerr, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (NW), said:
“Teaming up with Sale Sharks was a great way to help children living at Woodford Garden Village get to know those from the surrounding area while having fun and learning new skills. We’re grateful to the players and coaches for taking the time to visit the development. Everyone enjoyed the session and we’ve even had parents asking when the next one will be!
“The village green is already becoming a focus for the community that’s taking shape here and was the perfect setting for the coaching session with Sale Sharks.”

Woodford Garden Village will eventually comprise more than 900 new homes across 205 hectares.
The new neighbourhood will include a network of green spaces for recreation including children’s play areas, cycle pathways, parks, meadows and extensive tree planting, plus a playing field for sport and recreational use.
Speaking at the event, Sale Sharks player Tom Curry said:
“The space and facilities at Woodford Garden Village are incredible. To be out here with the kids on the open grass is brilliant. It must be incredible for the local children.”
Rob Webber added:
“We are proud of the partnership with Redrow and were happy to visit Woodford Garden Village to involve the children in a coaching session. Hopefully it has sparked their interest in rugby and we might even find a star of the future.”
