Cleaning Up in Bramhall with Clean Inc

Back in 2012, following the passing of Mike Howorth, (Howorths Dry Cleaners) Bramhalls longest running dry cleaners, was bought by Clean Inc. 

Owner Jamie Arden tells us why he wanted to bring this store in to his family business.

“I’d known Mike and Paul for many years doing various contract work for them in our Stockport branch. When the business came up for sale I thought it would be a perfect fit for our business model. Paul had been at the shop for many years and has a great relationship with the Bramhall public. With an investment plan Paul and I thought the shop would go from strength to strength. With Johnsons closing we are now the only dry cleaners in Bramhall that actually do their cleaning in-house.

Next year we will be offering the latest technology with our new Wet Cleaning System, this system allows dry clean only garments to be cleaned without the need for solvents. This allows us to clean products which were thought to be non dry cleanable such as sarees etc…

Paul Worrall has been working in the village dry cleaners for over 27 years. When the take over came he saw it as an opportunity for the new owners to invest in the store and make sure it was the best Bramhall had to offer. “Having worked with Mike for 24 year’s I was a little uncertain of who would be taking over the company but I was delighted to find out Jamie had bought it. He wanted to keep the original staff and allows us to run the shop as we always have but giving us the support and investment the shop needed to make us the premier dry cleaners in Bramhall. I think Mike would be very proud”

Jamie joined the family contract dry cleaning business from leaving college, working in a lock up on an industrial estate in Stockport. After his fathers retirement in 2002 he decided it was time to let the public know about the services they offered. Premises were purchased with all the equipment moved and giving them a presence on the high street. In 2008 the chance came to purchase Clean Inc Dry Cleaners based in Heaton Moor with a further branch in Didsbury.

A quick rebrand of the Stockport branch followed along with the purchase of Bramhall. The final piece of the jigsaw was added last year when they moved to bigger premises in Stockport town centre (opposite the White Lion pub). Within the new branch the latest addition to the company “Stitch and Zip” was unveiled. This offers alterations by qualified tailors and seamstresses in-store. A service that is offered in Bramhall with in-store facilities coming in 2015!
