Duck Race – Sunday May 18th – Update
26 Apr 2014It is just over three weeks until the Bramhall And Woodford Rotary Club once again hold the Duck Race and Family Fun Day at Bramhall Park on Sunday May 18th.
The Rotary Club is very pleased to announce that Mosley Jarman Estate Agents of Bramhall have not only agreed to sponsoring this event but have stated their intention to support future Duck Race days.
Nick Mosley, a director of Mosley Jarman as well as a local resident said “My colleagues and I went to last year’s event and had a fantastic day, even though our duck did not win! In fact we turned it into a works day out. We feel that this partnership will allow us to put something back into our local community having been strongly supported by local people and families since we started Mosley Jarman in 2011. If you are out and about shopping over the next few weekends at either ASDA in Cheadle Hulme, Handforth Dean or at Woodford Park Garden Centre look out for the Race Sales ticket point where you can ‘buy’ a ticket to enter a duck in one of the four races. It is a fabulous sight to see a thousand ducks floating down then you could win a cash prize of £100!”
Last year we had many hundreds of families turned up on the day. So this year the Club have put in place a traffic management plan part of which is to provide a ‘Park and Ride’ facility. A circular bus service will run throughout the day between Bramhall – Park – Cheadle Hulme – Park – Bramhall. The yellow DUCK BUS is free and will pick up at Duck Stops en route.
Please check our website www.bwrotary.org or our Facebook page for more information.
We start at 11.00am, which will give you enough time to see the large decorated ‘corporate’ ducks in the Paddock and choose which one you think may win before the first race at 11.30.
As well as Duck Racing with some fabulous prizes for the winners there will be many sideshows:- two bouncy castles, games, emergency vehicles and craft stalls along with ImagineFM. There are three stages of entertainment with dancing groups, singers and musicians. There will be special performances by The Rock Choir and The Wellington St. Stompers.
The Bramhall & Woodford Rotary Club will be running the Great Bramhall Bake Off for any one wanting to show off their baking skills. There is an application form on the Home page of the website www.bwrotary.org
Some wonderful prizes have generously been donated by local businesses.
We are also holding an inaugural Junior Schools Choir competition at the Stage on the Terrace.
We have decided that of the money raised 80% will be shared between Walthew House Stockport and Beacon Counselling. The remaining amount will be distributed to other charities supported by the club.
This year will be bigger and better than ever and entry is still free but please enter a duck in a race for just a pound.
