Fun and Fundraising at Eds Big Hair Do!

Everyone’s favourite Brazilian hairdresser Ed Mascarenhas had Bramhall buzzing last week when Eds hosted the Big Hair Do 2021 – the biggest hair party in the UK! Organised by Creative HEAD magazine, Layered Online and Schwarzkopf Professional, the Big Hair Do is a fun event that gives salons across the country the chance to invite customers in for live demos, tips, tricks and more – and at Eds, it’s ALWAYS more.

So, in characteristic fashion, guests were treated to complimentary fizz on arrival, delicious canapes served up all evening by next-door neighbours Yardbird and the pumping beats of a live DJ – a lot of excitement for a Wednesday night!

The life and soul of any party, Ed is not an easy man to eclipse, but alas: the show was well and truly stolen by a pair of glitteringly glamourous Brazilian dancers, who entertained guests for the evening, even leading a conga through the salon and out into the street in what was undoubtedly a traffic-stopping spectacle for the uninitiated.   

Reps from GHD and Schwarzkopf were on hand to demonstrate all the latest gadgets and techniques, and the salon staff treated guests to new looks that varied from sleek and straight to classically curly – of course, our very own Wendy got in on the action!

We like to have fun here in the village but even more so if it’s for a good cause. A raffle was held on the night with almost £400 in proceeds going to Lee’s Sunshine Fund – a local cause set up to raise funds and awareness for PAPYRUS – Prevention of Young Suicide.

Lots of familiar faces turned out for the event, including Plumcake’s Anna, local councillor Linda Weekes-Holt, and I Love Bramhall’s very own Chelsea Shoesmith was on hand with her camera to capture all of the best moments from the night.

At the end of the evening, guests walked away with two types of goodie bags: the first filled with a wonderful array of hair products, and the second packed with pongy pizzle sticks and other ‘delicacies’ for dogs, courtesy of Bramhall Dog Groomers!

A fun night of fundraising had by all – we look forward to getting our hair done at the Big Hair Do 2022!
