Halloween Charity Disco in aid of GIST

8 Nov 2014

Local boys Inigo and George, aged 11, successfully held a Halloween charity disco last weekend. 70 children from around the area joined them to help raise £347.80 for PAWS-GIST, a charity working to help patients and families affected by GIST (Gastro Intestinal Stroma Tumour), a rare cancer that has no known cures.

This is a cause close to the boys’ family’s hearts as their close friend Vicky Rockingham, suffers from this terrible illness.

A huge well done to the boys for all their hard work!

Wild type GIST predominately affects young women. The PAWS-GIST group was set up by some mothers, whose young daughters had received this devastating diagnosis and they then learnt that there was very little research into this extremely rare cancer. They aim to pool expertise and fund research with the aim of eventually finding a cure. So fundraising for this is essential.

Vicky and her family and friends have raised just over £10,000 so far, but more is needed.
