I LOVE Blanc de Blancs

26 Jan 2017

In October 2016, an exciting new wine bar opened in Bramhall.

It’s growing in popularity all the time and is affectionately known as Blankety Blank by a lot of people. We are of course talking about the wonderful Blanc de Blancs.

Blanc de Blancs

Blanc de Blancs is based in what was formerly a sweet shop and at the end of May 2016, that shop shut down and Alex and Emma entered the space and began renovating! Months of hard graft and labour was finally revealed when they opened in October and voila: our very own wine bar! Wasn’t the months of grafting worth it though! Everything from the colour scheme to the layout to the wall hangings was handpicked by Alex and Emma and they couldn’t be happier with the final outcome.

Part of the initial vision was to have a luxurious VIP area, and that’s exactly what they’ve got in the far corner of the bar. It’s big enough for 14 people to be seated and is private enough to enjoy each other’s company as you would do at home. At £195 it’s well worth it – especially when you get that money knocked off your bar bill! The VIP area is growing more and more popular within Bramhall and is a fantastic way to get the Blanc de Blancs experience.

Blanc de Blancs

Blanc de Blancs don’t do draught beer – they do bottled beers instead and have a broad range of it for varied tastes. When commenting on it, they said how there are already so many fantastic bars in Bramhall where you can get amazing draught beer already, such as The Bubble Room or The Mounting Stone. Alex and Emma didn’t want to branch out of their ‘wine bar’ heritage but also didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes in the village. That’s a really strong vibe you get when talking to the pair, they’re all about the community. Alex says, “If Bramhall wins then we all do.” They even get their bread from Bramhall Bakery – which of course goes down a treat with their paté and olives and they are now members of Bramhall Together Trust.

The Mounting Stone is FAB and they are beer specialists – we aren’t beer specialists, we’re wine specialists.”

Blanc de Blancs is a wine bar but also a wine shop. They have an extensive range of fine wines available to purchase and enjoy at home. They EVEN have Cuban cigars – one of only a handful of places who sell them in the North West!

The couple have another business up where they live in Garstang. It’s another wine bar called Aged In Oak, so they certainly know what they’re doing when it comes to this line of business. How did they end up in Bramhall then? Well, Alex is also a musician and DJ and had a wedding gig in Bramhall back in 2015. The wedding was running late so he took time out to spend time in the village over a coffee and walkabout. He thought it was a beautiful village, that seemed to be buzzing and it gave the impression of having an amazing community feel that we all love. He took to it like a moth to a flame. A few nights out in Bramhall later they loved it and decided that was that – Bramhall was the place for their next venture.

“We wanted to come to a place where people love food, wine and socialising.”

There are gins, whiskeys, bottled beers and of course the fine wines that are growing in popularity all the time. Basically, there are tastes for everyone! Blanc de Blancs now offer various foods to accompany the drinks you have such as cheese boards, paté with toast, olives and feta and the likes. It’s a unique experience going to Alex and Emma’s place, and one that you have to give a go to!

Blanc de Blancs

Alex and Emma invite us all in to try some of their wines and enjoy the company in Bramhall’s newest wine bar. The growing amount of regulars that go there will tell you how good it is and there are loads of five star testimonials on their Facebook page! Blanc de Blancs LOVES Bramhall – they really do – and I LOVE Blanc de Blancs.
