I LOVE Stables Kitchen 2019
22 May 2019It’s approaching three years since the new and improved Stables Kitchen at Bramall Hall was unveiled – I Love Bramhall caught up with restaurant manager Zoe Jackson and director of Mosaic Catering Kirsten Inverarity for an update – and to find out what’s on the menu for the coming months.
Bright and airy, Stables Kitchen is the perfect place to relax after a stroll around our favourite local park. Popular across all intersections of the community, from mums and tots to dog-walkers and retirees, Stables Kitchen offers a welcome to all guests – including those of the four-legged variety.
The open-plan space – complete with glass wall that allows the sunlight to flood in – is filled with an eclectic assortment of reclaimed furniture, including original Ercol pieces and bistro tables all the way from Paris. Uniquely modern yet retro, the combination works surprisingly well to create a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
In-keeping with the welcoming vibe, there’s a tub of free doggy delights by the entrance, a handy water station and a pile of blankets to keep guests warm on chillier afternoons – not to mention the broad array of delicious dishes on the menu, which is designed to cater for all tastes.
Changing seasonally and sometimes more often, the Stables’ menu includes traditional favourites like bangers and mash and comforting fish finger sandwiches, along with artisanal pizza flatbreads and sophisticated smoked salmon linguine. The specials board is always worth a look too, with popular dishes often making it to the main menu.
Also catering for children and those with intolerances or dietary preferences, Stables’ menu is complemented by a wonderful selection of mouthwatering locally produced cakes and all manner of drinks, from coffees and juices to a glass of fizz. And of course, there’s always a bowl of something cold and refreshing outside awaiting furry guests!
There are some great deals to be had at Stables Kitchen– Two for Tuesday gives visitors two dishes for the price of one, so if you’re popping in on a Tuesday don’t forget to ask which dish is on offer that week. Meanwhile, dog walkers are eligible for discounted deal on a teacake and a hot drink, as are members of local running group Bramhall Runners. Grabbing something on the go? Stop by the renovated horsebox in the outdoor seating area to pick up a hot drink or an ice cream to take away.
Stables Kitchen runs a tight ship – two expert chefs head up the kitchen and there are several other full-time members of staff too, along with part-time employees, all working together to ensure that the restaurant maintains its excellent reputation for quality and efficiency. The team has a good time together, Zoe says, and busy times are some of the best at the Stables.
At weekends especially, and during special events like the annual Duck Race, the restaurant soon fills up. However, the table service operation means that orders can be put through quickly, so visitors can relax as soon as they arrive without having to queue. To streamline the process even more, guests will soon be able to signal that they’re ready to order by placing a bright wooden flower on their chosen table. As well as introducing improvements to the ordering system, Stables is planning a couple of other updates in the near future, including the addition of a slushy machine in the horsebox and dog ice cream- just in time for the summer holidays!
