I Love Urban Design & Construct 2019

With years of experience planning commercial building projects, construction specialists Urban Design & Consult are bringing their expertise to the domestic and commercial markets with new business Urban Design & Construct.

I Love Bramhall met up with Operations Director Dave Percy and Project Manager Fanny Paupardin to find out how they’re making Bramhall residents’ dreams a reality.

Chartered surveyor Dave, who lived in Bramhall for many years and was a member of 4th Bramhall Scouts, set up his first business at the age of 16. Starting out in landscaping before moving into building work like extensions and loft conversions, Dave then took a degree in surveying, working for a design and consultancy firm in Manchester for a year as part of his chartership.

After becoming chartered with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Dave established Urban Design & Consult in 2012. The construction business was launched in January this year as a joint venture between Dave and Fanny, who came across to the UK from France in 2001. With a background in customer service, Fanny moved into construction and worked as an on-site project manager before joining Dave’s team last year.

Providing nationwide coverage, Urban Design & Consult offers a full project management service for the likes of the NHS, Care homes, housing associations, school, restaurants and factories. From establishing a brief and undertaking surveys to preparing tender packages, Urban Design & Consult’s 11-strong team provides a joined-up, professional-led service that, until recently, handled every stage of the construction process other than providing the contractors themselves.

Now, with the recent creation of Urban Design & Construct, the team is able to offer an even broader service provision. It was always Dave’s intention to set up the construction side of the business and despite only launching in early 2019, the construction venture has already been well received locally.

Dave and the team have carried out work around Bramhall and further afield, designing and project managing  The Railway Nursery and refitting both Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme health centres, for example – although Urban Design & Construct’s coverage will extend across the whole of the North West region. With a history of working with pubs, Dave is keen to take on related restaurant and small commercial projects, as well as domestic construction jobs in and around Bramhall.

The team at Urban Design & Consult also deliver workshops for clients managing construction projects, helping customers get a handle on their health and safety obligations – they’re even gold accredited by organisation Constructionline, which validates the regulatory compliance of construction suppliers.
