I LOVE Will’s Hardware Hut

24 Apr 2017

Hold onto your hat.  What you see when you meet Will Taylor, owner of Hardware Hut on North Park Road, is not what you get. You get so much more.  This young entrepreneur has packed in a lot of life/work experience in his quarter of a century.

He is and has always been local to Bramhall.  As a young boy, he attended Hillcrest Grammar before he moved on to Aquinas College.  It is here that he took a Product Design course which got him into woodwork.  He fell in love with working with wood.  When he graduated from Aquinas College he found a furniture making course at Stockport College.  He met a fellow student who introduced him to a property maintenance firm which gave him a job and thrived Will’s potential.  His boss wanted to start a hardware shop in Parkside and asked Will to manage it. On March of 2014 the doors of Hardware Hut opened and Will soon became the face of this traditional hardware store.

As you would expect from a budding entrepreneur another opportunity knocked and Will took it.  In Autumn of 2015 he took a job as a graphic designer at Media City in Manchester.  He had jobs from doing design work for the Grotto at the Trafford Centre and the BBC’s ‘Great British Menu’.  He also was a tradesman for the Gok Wan show of “Fill Your House for Free’.  Good corporate work experience can be invaluable experience for a young mover and shaker.

In 2016 Will’s previous boss approached him to see if he knew anyone that would like to take over the Hardware Hut.  Long story short, Will bought the business from him in the Spring of 2016.  With his past work experiences as a tradesmen, working as a bicycle mechanic at Halfords, computer engineer, as well as his previous experience managing the Hardware Hut, Will felt this was a challenge he was ready for.

As he says,

“Where there’s a ‘Will’, there’s a way”.

He loves it when his customers refer to the Hardware Hut as a “mini B&Q”.  He carries a lot of inventory in his well-stocked shop.  The list of inventory are things such as home security items, bicycle supplies, houseware items, DIY, decorating, a pet section, electrical, hardware, garden section including bedding plants, garden tools and compost and wire by the meter.

One of the best things about the Hardware Hut is the convenience of his shop topped up by the unrivaled customer service you get from Will and his friend/employee James.  They enjoy helping people.  Will shared an example of a customer that came in to buy a single bolt for his chainsaw which had broken, not only does Will’s Hardware Hut sell individual screws and bolts etc, but Will assisted in fixing the chain saw at no extra charge. He offers a full service, one stop shop.   Will considers himself as a jack of all trades, master of many.

Will also offers a full handyman service and promises no job is too small! From hanging a single shelf, fitting lights or decorating an entire house. Will has the full range of skills required to get the job done by a local face you can trust.

Don’t fight the traffic and the crowds when you need an essential item.  Go meet Will and James.  Have a chat, buy a bolt, screw, nail, pet supplies, garden tool, etc.  Shop local. Open 7 days a week
