I LOVED the BIG Bramhall Tea Party

27 Jul 2017

The Mayor of Stockport, Councillors, MPs, and local community groups rally together to support the elderly community in Bramhall for the Big Bramhall Free Tea Party.

On sunny Friday in July , I Love Bramhall organised the 4th annual ‘Big Bramhall Free Tea Party’ in the beautiful grounds of St Michael’s Church and what a special day it was once again for the senior citizens of Bramhall.

This free event has now become something of a Bramhall tradition, bringing together the local community both young and old, connecting friends old and new, for an afternoon of entertainment, conversation and celebration.

Over 300 elderly guests were welcomed with a cold glass of freshly made Pimms, kindly donated by The Bubble Room. A large team of pupils were mobilised by Bramhall High School to set up hundreds of chairs and tables, and were on hand throughout the day to ensure that the guests were entertained and well looked after. Staff from Piccolino where supported by a legion of local volunteers served the guests with scrumptious scones, cakes, brownies and other delicious treats, all of which were donated by local shops and eateries in Bramhall.

Wendy Green, founder of I Love Bramhall and I Love Cheadle Hulme who founded the event four years ago said:

“The tea party is such a rewarding event to organise, but I couldn’t have done it without all the volunteers who helped; brewing up more than 400 cups of tea, serving cakes, washing up, setting up prior to the event and clearing up afterwards, plus everyone who donated items or their services for free. It’s wonderful that so many people made the time to give something back to the elderly generation in Bramhall. This special afternoon is a celebration of their lives and I believe that events such as this can genuinely make our society much better”

The event provided 3 hours of entertainment for guests, featuring Gary from Absolute DJ’s, plus singer Alan Burton, guitarist Maria Meers, Zumba Cheadle Hulme who organised an unforgettable dancing Flashmob, and also the very talented singers Alex Johnstone and Bramhall High School who captivated the guests.

Guests were further treated with free massages from Amaranth and Sally Triner and hair cuts from newly opened salon, Francesco Hair, make up from Louisa, plus hearing tests from Cheshire Hearing Centres – all free!

The support from local businesses, groups and volunteers was simply incredible. The tables were beautifully decorated with centrepieces by Fran Smith and flowers from Bramhall Flowers, arranged by pupils from local primary school, Pownall Green School. Local Scouting groups 1st Bramhall & 4th Bramhall, plus Benja Fold Guides and Fords Lane Church loaned their chairs & tables to comfortably seat over 300 senior citizens.

Guests received specialist advice from Age UK, Bramhall Park Physio, and GM Police. But the support didn’t stop there! Enterprise Bus and Chrome Motors  ensured that everyone got the chance to attend this fabulous day by offering free transportation to and from the event!

Special mention goes to the sponsors of the event Notcutts– Woodford Garden Centre, Cheshire Hearing Centres & SAS Daniels Solicitors because without their support The Big Bramhall Tea Party would not be possible!

A huge thankyou to Chelsea Shoesmith Photography for the fabulous photos of the event and Bellyflop TV for the video capturing the excitement of the day.

Businesses also donated free gifts, the ladies were given free brooches from Jon Richard Jewellery and the gentleman mini tool kits from Chrome Motors and umbrellas from McKellens and dental products from Bramcote Dental.

I want to thank you for putting on yet another excellent event.  Many of the Bramhall residents that I spoke with were delighted such an event is held and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Its no easy task to project manage events like this, but you should be very proud of what you achieved and all the volunteers too.
