Ladybrook School LOVES reading!

15 Oct 2016

Ladybrook Primary School are really enjoying promoting reading and have participated in ‘the Book Factor’ during the last academic year (organised by the fabulous Simply Books).

Ladybrook enjoyed a fantastic visit to school by the hilarious and very talented duo, Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre during the summer term. The children were entertained and given some fantastic ideas for planning and writing stories.

Ladybrook School - Community Week

At the beginning of the Autumn Term, Ladybrook’s Year Four and Year Five classes went to Stockport Plaza to meet the legendary Michael Morpurgo! They thoroughly enjoyed listening to him share his ideas for stories. Thank you to Simply Books for organising this.

Earlier this term, Ladybrook hosted an event in school with the author Jo Welch for Year Five and Year Six children. Jo has written her first book called ‘The Einstein Code’ and if you love a book full of twists, turns and excitement and thrills, this is the book for you! During Jo’s visit she told the beginning of the story… and then left the school in suspense! Ladybrook also enjoyed some code-breaking activities … MI5 here we come!

Ladybrook School - Community Week

But it doesn’t stop there! Each term they have a special week where the ordinary curriculum stops and classes work together – in the past we have held science weeks, technology weeks, creative weeks and community weeks. After half term, Ladybrook will be running a poetry week and will be welcoming a performance poet into school! During this same week, they are thrilled to share the news that Lauren Child (we know you’ve heard of Charlie and Lola) will be visiting us with Simply Books  … and we can’t wait!

If you would like to see this lovely school in action, you are welcome to attend their Open Morning for prospective parents on 9th November between 9.30 and 11.30. Ladybrook would love to see you!
