Michelle Barnard – Textile Artist
17 Sep 2014Bramhall textile artist Michelle Barnard will be bringing beautiful hand and machine stitched artworks, felt brooches and French knitted necklaces to Castlefield Market at Uppercampfield, Manchester, as part of an “Off the High Street” event on 5th, 6th and 7th December.
Michelle, who has lived in Bramhall for 18 years, studied patchwork and quilting in Stockport, then began exhibiting her art across the North of England as part of the Ten Plus textile group in 2006. Her pieces incorporate many techniques including felting, applique, printing techniques, machine quilting and hand stitching. She says her inspiration comes from “places that I love and the idea of home or haven. I often incorporate text into my stitching to create a story in my work”
The markets will provide an exciting opportunity to buy unique and special Christmas gifts directly from local artists and craftspeople. It will also feature some of the best of Manchester street food, craft beers and mulled wine to get you in the Christmas spirit! The markets will take place every Friday, Saturday (10am-8pm) and Sunday (10am-6pm) from 28th November to 21st December.
Some of Michelle’s work can also be seen as part of the Ten Plus Textiles exhibition at the Platform Gallery, Clitheroe from Tuesday 28th October to Saturday 8th November 2014
