I Love Moxie Mingling at The Churchill Tree
27 May 2022On Thursday 19 May, Moxie headed into I Love Alderley Edge territory, for a Moxie Mingle at Alderley’s newest pub and dining destination, The Churchill Tree, part of The Cheshire Pub Company. The Cheshire Pub Company encompasses some of Cheshire’s favourite foodie pubs, Mobberley’s The Frozen Mop and The Ship Inn at Styal, as well as Bramhall’s very own Crown & Conspirator.
Wining and Dining Destination
This brand spanking new destination pub has embraced and celebrated the area’s local history and is set within the lush grounds of Alderley Park. Guests can tuck in to sumptuous and classic British cooking, complemented by a superb selection of champagnes, wines, spirits, beers, cask ales and soft drinks.
The Churchill Tree has been finished to the highest standards and the attention to detail is apparent in every little touch. The pub’s heritage includes serving as a British Red Cross hospital for wounded war heroes during WW2, before which it was the country estate’s tenants’ hall and hosted many a ball.
History and Heritage
Such a history needed sympathetic expert architects and designers to oversee the classic yet contemporary scheme with sensitivity. The team have done a remarkable job, protecting and enhancing the key listed features along the way. The Churchill Tree’s Hannah welcomed us and spoke eloquently to enlighten us about the pub and its history and show the painstakingly diligent restoration and renovation as well as point out the many original features such as stained-glass windows, stunning oak beams and huge carved fireplaces. We were also suitably impressed by the striking original artworks which the Cheshire Pub Company commissioned, to celebrate the historical figures connected to the estate.
The Churchill Tree – named after the area’s links with Winston Churchill – is a ‘proper pub’, where you can cosy up by the fire in the winter, dine al fresco in the sun on the outdoor courtyard in Summer. We can safely say that everyone who joined us on Thursday will be back to partake of the Churchill Tree’s excellent hospitality again and again, and probably sooner rather than later.
The Better Way to Network
Many of our wonderful Moxie friends and regulars joined several new faces. Two of those fresh faces already have links to the I Love family, which is especially gratifying – clearly, the word is being spread! Luke Tiplady, of PAT testing company LT Electrical Testing is son of our client Caroline, of the delectable Cheshire Home Fragrance. Luke’s dad Allen joined us, too, representing both Cheshire Home Fragrance and his new venture, Furniture Reinvented. Brilliant new Alderley businesses, One London Road – soon to open on the old RBS site and kindly hosting July’s mingle – and CD Law enjoyed their first Moxie, too.
As ever, networking was in full flow – stopping only to enjoy the Churchill Tree’s incredible snacks and fizz – and some superb connections were made. That’s the Moxie way – no stress, no pressure, no demands. Just a room in a fabulous local venue, full of like-minded people who will become great contacts and friends. Think networking’s not for you? Think again, join us soon – you’ll be ever so glad you did.
