Nevill Road Junior School – Cricket and Football Champions
3 Jul 2018On Tuesday 26th June, eight girls from the Year 6 class from Nevill Road Junior School competed in the Stockport Borough Kwik Cricket Final to take the silverware back to their school.
After an intense round of 3 matches, winning two and drawing one, the girls found themselves in the relentless final against Rose Hill Primary School. Although the girls were already through to the County Final, they still wanted to win – and they did! After doing so, they were crowned the Girls’ Kwik Cricket champions of Stockport, a title they wear with pride.
The girls’ teachers Mrs Sheldrake and Mrs Lord have shown their immense pride and support in the team – a team whose batting, bowling and fielding skills much surpass those expected of a team their age. Now, the girls and coaches are looking forward to representing Stockport, along with Rose Hill Primary School, in the County Final at Warrington Cricket Club on Thursday 12th July – a big date for them.
On Thursday 28th June, Nevill Road Junior School Year 5 and 6 boys’ football team played in the Stockport Borough 7-aside final. They played brilliantly in the game; although it was an unforgiving match against a well-built opposition, the boys came out on top, awarding them with the title of Stockport Champions. Their coaches, Mr Elias and Mrs Lord, were sure to celebrate the boys’ brilliant play and noted the fact they were a credit to the school and their peers.
Nevill Road Junior School are also pleased to announce that the Nevill Road Junior School BOCCIA team are Stockport champions and will be representing Stockport at the Greater Manchester School Games on Friday 6th July; a date the youngsters await with much anticipation!
