New Year, New Look for Piccolino Bramhall
24 Jan 2014One of our favourite shops in Bramhall, the Italian restaurant Piccolino reopened on Thursday 23rd January after a brief New Year makeover. Since opening its doors nearly 10 years ago, the restaurant has maintained its reputation of serving great Italian food as it should be.
The New Year makeover encompasses new look interiors, menus and much more. Even the team has had a makeover now, referring to their clothing as fashion not just uniforms. This is the second phase of work that began last year with the addition of an all year terrace which has been a real hit with loyal guests.
At the heart of the project is food. The new theatre kitchen boasts a charcoal and wood burning grill and a wood burning oven. It resembles more of a Harrods butcher shop, fishmonger and deli than a restaurant. Guests are able to choose from a wonderful selection of fish, shellfish, meat, poultry, salami, Italian cheeses and a fantastic range of salads. Passion for provenance of ingredients is clearly visible.
Head of Kitchen Operations James Gingell, says ‘We believe in keeping things simple. We visit the regions, meet the producers and are committed to sourcing the best quality ingredients to serve amazing classic Italian dishes.’
Piccolino is part of Individual Restaurants, the 32 strong restaurant group. It has its own butcher based in Cheshire where a team of nine skilled butchers supply only the group’s restaurants with meat and poultry. All of the beef served, from chargrilled steak to classic bolognaise sauce, is from prime UK cattle, naturally reared on farms carefully selected by Individual Restaurants. The beef is aged in house for a minimum of 28 days and hand cut by their team of butchers to guarantee consistency.
Piccolino also has a passion for fish and shellfish, sourcing product direct from UK fishing boats. Currently the menu features wild Cornish sea bass, Native lobster, scallops and hand-picked crab meat.
Many of the pastas are made from scratch daily in the restaurant using premium Neopolitan ’00’ flour, free range eggs, olive oil and sea salt.
Whilst the provenance of ingredients is paramount, Piccolino believes that restaurants should offer all day every day affordability. The Quick Lunch menu available Monday through Saturday offers main courses for just £10. Daily specials including whole 1 1/2lb native lobster for £25 and the amazing sharing roasts on a Sunday for just £25.
The wine vault is extensive and comprises of an all Italian list, sitting alongside craft beers and classic cocktails like ‘An Italian Job’, the perfect combination of bitter/sweet, introducing the English market to the world of Italian cocktails.
Rumour has it that an extension of its all year terrace is also planned for summer. Watch this space for more details!
