It’s a new year and businesses around this time tend to have a look at what they can do to improve things for the following year. A great way to grow your business is to network. There are lots of networking groups around the area and you will find one to suit you, your time, taste and pocket.
Moxie is a networking group with a difference – no hard sell, no membership, no commitment, no lock out – open to all sectors of business, from sole traders to large organisations.
Moxie Mornings kick start your day feeling inspired, having met people with the same goal, there is always a good breakfast on offer, a chance to do a 2 minute introduction about your business (only if you feel comfortable doing so).
Moxie Mingles are held in the evenings, designed to provide a less structured meeting than the morning event, they are more sociable and its a great way to have fun mingling business!
Everyone is given a delegates list with full contact details and you and your business benefit from lots of social media activity before and after the event. There’s even a photographer at all the events to capture the moments.
Moxie is not just about business cards, it’s about relationships..…based on the belief that if you like someone, you’ll work with them. It’s as simple as that.

Healthy eating is for life, not just after Christmas. If you really want to make changes that will last they need to be simple. Our Nutritional Therapists can recommend foods and recipe ideas to suit your personal lifestyle and health goals but to get you started, here are our tips for a healthy January and beyond:
- Eat protein with every meal and snack: Protein keeps you feeling fuller for longer keeping hunger pangs at bay. Choose chicken and lean meats or beans, pulses and nuts with your meals and snacks.
- Swap white to brown. Cakes, biscuits and breads are all energy zappers and weight line expanders. Choose instead wholemeal versions, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate and raw food bars
- Enjoy your (herbal) teas. Limit regular tea and coffee to 1-2 cups per day and try a variety of herbal teas instead.
- Start the day with greens . Give yourself a head start with a morning green juice as an energy boost then aim for six extra portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

Salon 57 ‘s Top Tips: Great Hair in Winter
With Winter well under way and us all feeling the effects of the cold, rain and blustery winds, I can almost hear the words ‘ Oh my goodness look at my hair’. Well here’s a few simple tips to help you through the winter months and beyond. Give them a try and see how you get on.Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner and try to include a weekly hair mask.
- Argan oil is a great way to moisturise hair instantly but make sure it’s the right one for you.
- Using heated appliances too much can cause moisture loss. If you do, use a good quality heat protection spray.
- Try to get regular trims, it’s an effective way to get rid of those dry ends.
- Hot water dries hair out. Try luke warm water blasted with cold water to help close and seal hair cuticles to maintain your colour.
Why not take advantage of our 50% off all hair services during January!

It’s that time of year again ….and one of the most common new year resolutions is to lose weight.
If you recognise that your weight is making you unhappy and / or unhealthy, and you want to let go of that weight, then the real secrets to success are as follows:
- Easy does it. Make small changes
- Be compassionate with yourself. Don’t beat yourself up! When you’re kind to yourself, when you treat yourself like your own best friend, the magic happens.
- Do something different. Don’t do the same old things that you’ve tried in the past & haven’t given you the results you wanted. Research your options and do something different that will give you the chance of a different result.
- Get support. Research has shown that people making changes in their lifestyle get better lasting results if they are part of a group or support network.
- Take the first step!

New Year Resolutions are a strange phenomenon, perhaps a natural knee-jerk reaction to the festivities that precede the start of the year. It seems like a good time to lose weight, stop smoking or try to change some behaviour, and if you are motivated to do something positive, then that is absolutely fine.
However, have you ever wondered why they don’t seem to last? The answer is quite simple, it is about habits. We are creatures of habit – wake up, breakfast, smoke, shower, drive to work (usually the same route), coffee (maybe a biscuit – chocolate perhaps), work, lunch (same time each day), home (probably the same way as you went in), tea, TV, and then to bed after brushing your teeth.
Habits are so hard to break. In my experience, the best way to break a habit is by using hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapists relay a suggestion directly to the subconscious, and therefore if you want to stop smoking or want to eat more healthily this can be done relatively easily using hypnosis.
If you would like to talk to someone about breaking a habit that is going to make a permanent change and not a New Year fad, call us at Calm Minds on 0161 439 7773.
