Paws and Play in the Park 2019 drew thousands of visitors
16 May 2019More than 250 dogs (and thousands of people) turn out for Paws and Play in the Park 2019 at Lumb Lane Park in Bramhall on the May Bank Holiday Monday for our special annual event.
I Love Bramhall was delighted to welcome local residents and visitors from further across the North West to the popular community event, which gets bigger and better every year. More than 40 local businesses set up stall for the day on May 6th, selling everything from clothing and gifts to vegan dog treats, and we were treated to a fantastic performance from stage school 5 Star Unique Talent.
Guests enjoyed delicious wood-fired pizzas from Wood Fire Smoke, as well as Thai delights from Chilli Banana. Meanwhile, fluid levels were kept topped up by both Mobile Bars to You and Azulito Coffee and Rushey Hey Farm handed out so many bacon and sausage sandwiches that they sold out!

A couple of special mentions go to our main sponsor Redrow Homes and to the Rapid Relief team, who provided a large gazebo, free water all day and lots of help with the heavy lifting. The day would not have been possible without the support of both Redrow and the Rapid Relief team, so it’s a big thank you from all at I Love Bramhall!

This year’s good cause was animal rescue charity Manchester and Cheshire Dogs’ Home. A raffle was held on the day with lots of great prizes donated by local businesses. Altogether, £379 was raised to help the charity continue its good work with dogs in need of a loving home.

As expected, the main attraction of the day was dog show, which went down a storm – an unprecedented number of pooches put their best paw forward in the hopes of winning a top title. More than 250 dogs took part, with some canine contenders coming from as far afield as Bury, Congleton, Saddleworth and Rossendale.

Dog Show Contender
I Love Bramhall would like to extend a big congratulations to the winners across all 12 categories, which were judged by Walter Brett Mayor of Stockport, Bramhall councillor Linda Weekes-Holt and local business representatives Hayley Ekgren of Your Support Team, Karl Donovan from Kutchenhaus Wilmslow, Julie Widdowson of Julie Widdowson Hypnotherapy, Katherine Whalley from Redrow Homes, Guinot Bramhall’s Karen Hargreaves, Ed Mascarenhas from Ed’s Hair and Roger Prydderch of Prydderch Financial Planning.
The judges had some tough decisions to make, especially in the too-cute-to-handle Precious Puppy category and the hotly-contested Amusing Attire class. Some serious sartorial effort was made by entrants, especially British Bulldog; Bumble, who came rather appropriately dressed as a Bumble Bee! We also really rated very cute unicorn Poppy and the hilariously dressed Steve, complete with toy guitar!
