I LOVE Piccolino Bramhall
19 Dec 2017Fabulous food, a warm welcome and stylish surroundings – Italian favourite Piccolino Bramhall has it all, so it’s no wonder we chose this contemporary restaurant with a rustic flair to be the setting for our fourth birthday bash!
Based in the heart of Bramhall village on Moss Lane, Piccolino has a long history, which is testament to its popularity. Established more than 12 years ago, the Italian restaurant has gone through several refurbs over the years, transforming into a modern haven that offers fine dining with an authentic Italian flavour.
Ella Meho, event sales manager at Piccolino Bramhall, helped us arrange our birthday party, which was a big hit – not least as a result of the fantastic service from the attentive staff serving canapes by the dozen and ensuring everyone’s glasses were topped up. It’s this efficient, friendly service with a smile that keeps restaurant guests coming back year after year.
The unique setting has expanded in recent years, now seating diners in its stylish terraces at the front and side of the restaurant, which are heated and luxurious. Meanwhile, diners in the main area of the restaurant closest to the kitchen can watch their meals being made and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
The Food
Catering for individuals, families and groups alike, Piccolino has a selection of menus suitable for all diners, including an affordable choice of lunches, an impressive set menu and a selection of dishes developed especially for the restaurant’s youngest guests. Piccolino regularly updates the dishes on offer to account for seasonal changes and also offers a wide choice of gluten-free meals.
Smaller portions are available on request and diners are free to ask for changes to their meals in order to tweak a dish slightly, perhaps removing an ingredient to reflect an allergy or to make a meal vegan-friendly. According to Ella, if the ingredients are stocked, the chefs are happy to accommodate custom requests.
From a simple pizza to a rustic roast, contemporary chargrilled swordfish to traditional tiramisu, Piccolino serves up a choice of dishes to suit all tastes. One constant among all of this variety, however, is the standard of cooking. Regardless of the dish ordered, everything is prepared by a professional team of chefs, most of whom are Italian nationals and all of whom are connoisseurs of Italian cuisine.
The restaurant prides itself on the mastery of its chefs and the authentic flavours they create through the pairing of traditional methods with modern concepts. Using age-old techniques from Naples, sourdough pizzas are stretched by hand and fired in a charcoal and wood burning oven for added flavour, served with modern accompaniments such as courgette fries.
Piccolino sources its cured meats and cheeses from artisan suppliers across Italian regions such as Lombardia and Tuscany, while fresh meat, fish and vegetables are selected for their quality from across the UK and Europe, including lamb and veal from Dorset and Barbary duck from the west coast of France. Of all the meals on offer, Ella – a self-proclaimed fussy eater – recommends the mussels. Fresh and tasty, the shellfish on offer here are both delicious and enormous, offering exceptional value for money.
The Atmosphere
It’s not just the mouthwatering meals and efficient staff that attract visitors, however – Piccolino is also known and loved for its relaxed ambience, especially at the weekend. The restaurant welcomes a young crowd through its doors on Friday and Saturday evenings, providing live DJ entertainment for visitors who vary from local residents to famous footballers – known to have included Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s the perfect place to hold a private event, too, catering for everything from a 30-person sit-down meal to a wedding reception with canapes and prosecco.
Keep your eyes peeled for some special events in the new year – in the spring, Ella is planning an evening masterclass with a local Italian-owned hairdressers, which includes a delicious three-course meal; we can’t wait!
