Summer Sounds in the Village Square

27 Jul 2016

Saturday 23rd July 2016 saw a wonderful display of community, talent and fun in Bramhall. Organised by Tony Grimes from Interfuture Events and Wendy Green I Love Bramhall, the Village Square hosted the star spangled show for everyone to see just how wonderful our local community is.

There were singers, dancers, food, beer, sangria, face painter – the lot! If you were one of the ones at the event, you’ll know what I’m talking about. It really was a lovely experience.

SUMMER SOUNDS

The day started off with a great opening singer, Kim Jennett. The solo artist wowed the crowd with her excellent vocals and beautiful guitar play before handing the reigns over to the classy Harmony Revival – a barbershop singing group who showed age is just a number with their wonderful harmonies and admirable comradery and team spirit.

Children were able to have their face painted by Polka Dot or choose from an array of glitter tattoos

Meanwhile, Blanc du Blancs provided whisky, champagne and gin to the crowd, giving them a taster of what is to come when they open fully VERY soon! Keep an eye out for that! Food was provided by Amaranth with their healthy snacks, Country Fayre with classic burgers, Ella’s crepe stand, Jalfrezi’s Indian snacks, Plumcake with cucumber sandwiches and finally The Happy Potter with sweet cakes! Various other drinks were consumed including the homemade sangria from the boys at The Bubble Room. Guests were able to sit back and relax on chairs and tables provided by 4th Bramhall Scouts, set up by the staff at Sainsburys, tablecloths were used from the Square’s charity shops, Scope and Debra and the beautiful tables centres were donated by Bramhall Flowers.

Darren Smith was next to perform for us, displaying more delightful guitar playing which complimented his voice perfectly. His cover of George Ezra’s ‘Blame it on Me’ was particularly stunning and a definite crowd favourite. Next was the winner of Bramhall’s Got Talent 2014Alex Lees. Since he won that title he’s matured and developed into what we already knew he would become – a beautiful singer with stunning range. Covering ‘I’m Feeling Good’ is no easy job but he made it look effortless. Definitely expect to see Alex on a bigger stage in the near future.

Next was something different and something absolutely adorable. 5 Star Unique Talent took to the stage next and made all of their families beam with pride as they danced their way through Justin Bieber and Fleur East tunes. The oldest dancer was just 13 and all of them were excellent. Next came another guitar genius in the form of Dominic Morgan. The crowd were well in the mood now as the afternoon turned into evening and a lot of toe tapping was seen!

5 Star Talent

Former Bramhall High student Alex Johnstone, a real local girl, was the penultimate act of the event and as the Jalfrezi men served out the beer and Indian treats, she owned the stage with her style and vocals. ‘Valerie’ was a crowd pleaser and in singing it she gave the final act of the evening tough shoes to fill…

Tricast were the ones with this task. A three-piece band who pride themselves in covering rock, pop and general popular music. Did they do the job? Did they provide a good end to the show? Of COURSE they did! They were fantastic. ‘Can’t take my eyes off you’ was a great way to finish a fantastic day which saw local businesses and restaurants come together with the community as they so often do. Accompany that with the degree of talent we saw on show and I think you’ll agree with me when I say – Bramhall is a fantastic place to be with a fantastic community.
