Cheadle Hulme Businesses Paint Village Pink For Prevent Cancer

7 Sep 2017

More than 30 businesses in Cheadle Hulme have joined forces to transform the village into a sea of pink in aid of Manchester-based charity Prevent Breast Cancer.

Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink returns for its second year from Monday 25 September after raising over £14,500 in 2016. This year’s schedule includes a series of fundraising events such as a family fun day, a pub quiz, a pink parade and an afternoon tea, while proceedings will culminate with a special Pink Party at The Village Hotel on 13 October.

As the UK’s only charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer, Prevent Breast Cancer launched its Paint Towns Pink initiative last year to encourage local communities to raise awareness and get involved in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Suzanna Dhawan, event manager at Prevent Breast Cancer, said:

“We’re incredibly passionate about working with communities and forging links with local businesses not only to raise funds, but to also find out their views and ideas about how we can continue to grow the charity.

Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink has become an annual event for the town and we’re thrilled to have had even more people show interest this year. The schedule is jam-packed full of activities for all the family, so it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce the charity to new supporters and strengthen existing relationships.”

Sponsored by Equity Housing Group, Bramhall Financial and Midshire North and supported by Kate and Wendy from ILoveCheadleHulme.com

Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink will kick off on Monday 25 September with a Whispers ‘Hair Through the Ages’ Show at the Conservative Club. A key highlight in the line-up is also the Pink Parade on Saturday 30 September. Starting at 2pm at Governors House, the free parade will head down Ravenoak Road onto Station Road and then finish inside Oak Meadow Park, where the fun day and Artisan Market will be based.

Suzanna added:

“As a charity entirely dedicated to predicting and preventing breast cancer, we rely solely on donations to carry out our vital research projects. Our ultimate goal is to protect future generations from the disease so that it doesn’t exist and we’re committed to building our network of supporters who can help make this happen.

“We can’t wait to kick off this year’s Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink and we’re confident that we’ll top last year’s fundraising total.”
