I LOVE Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre

19 Jun 2017

Cheadle Hulme is very different to other villages in that we have several small shopping areas. However, Station Road and the Shopping Centre are the hub of Cheadle Hulme.

Cheadle Hulme Shopping centre offers everything from your weekly shop to school uniform fitting – with a lovely lunch or a coffee thrown in! You can get your hair done at Laura Caroline – or even indulge in a little well-earned Chapel time at the beautiful Chapel Holistics.

Chapel Holistics chose to move into the shopping centre a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back. The new purpose-built sanctuary is so handy for their clients, and with several beautiful treatment rooms offers a real escape. The stress seems to dissipate even as you head up the stairs when the lovely Chapel team will take the most excellent care of you, body and soul! With every beauty and holistic treatment imaginable, isn’t time you treated yourself to some Chapel time?

With three hours FREE parking, the shopping centre already has an advantage over other nearby village centres. Many of us will remember Mr Morgan’s and Fine Fayre in the precinct back in the day, then Somerfield – but the arrival of the handy Asda supermarket just a few years ago has certainly brought more people in. Even so, there’s always a space in the roomy car park. Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre has plenty of small, independent shops too. Mike and Julie at Pets’ Corner, for example, are a local couple who have been in business many years – they are always available to advise pet owners. Their shop is a treasure trove – stocking pretty much anything you need. They can usually order in for you, too – the mark of a good local shop.

Monkhouses too, have been a Cheadle Hulme fixture for a long, long time – right up there with Pimlott’s, Snapes, and Waterhouses. They have an excellent and knowledgeable sports department, and also stock quality uniform for every local school – and, as testament to their reputation, many non-local schools too.

Simply Tiles and Bathrooms recently opened a showroom – their second – in the shopping centre, and it’s simply stunning. Simply Tiles & Bathrooms provide a full service, including design, supply and installation. The showroom has a wealth of contemporary and traditional bathrooms to inspire, as well as a huge array of tiles for ANY room in the house.

We’re really spoilt with eateries in the shopping centre. Rainbow88 has been open over 18 years now and is justifiably popular. The food, service and atmosphere are all second-to-none and Linda works tirelessly to support local charities, and to champion other local businesses. At the other end of the shopping centre is the beautiful little Italian restaurant, Claudio and Leo’s La Casetta. Treat yourself to authentic Italian cooking in this friendly, family run restaurant. For lighter lunches, breakfast butties and really, REALLY good coffee, as well as home-made cakes, head to Hudson’s. There’s free wifi and an eclectic range of gifts.

Barradells’ the opticians promise – and deliver – excellent customer service. Boasting all the latest technology, their experienced Optometrists can give the most thorough of eye examinations in relaxing and reassuring surroundings. They’re also absolutely brilliant with children. It’s no surprise that spectacle wearers travel from far to visit Barradells’.  Also on the ‘looking after yourself’ side, Centre Pharmacy have everything else you need. It’s not just prescriptions and painkillers, oh no. Centre Pharmacy stock a huge range of medicines, supplements, natural remedies, gifts, toiletries and make up. They also offer a free prescription collections and delivery service, free Blood Pressure checks, free Inhaler technique check, free medicines review check, advice on new medicines, and more.

Two really well-stocked charity shops – Oxfam and Age UK – provide the chance for a bargain. Good quality clothes, shoes and bags (very often some designer names!) as well as books, games and toys are supplemented by new cards and giftware. Talking of clothes, Empire Menswear has everything the dapper gent could desire, and to suit every budget. Star Dry Cleaners can keep those purchases looking fresh!

There’s also a Hallmark card shop, stocking cards and gifts for every occasion. Check out their Creation Station for personalised gifts, too! Next door is a handy hardware shop, JJ’s, and at the main entrance to the shopping centre is Mount Vapour – where Tim stocks everything the e-cigarette enthusiast could need. As well as our local independents, there are household names too – Subway, Costa and BetFred.
