When it comes to independent schools, Cheadle Hulme is truly blessed, with four highly regarded private schools, each within walking distance of each other:
Cheadle Hulme School began life as Warehousemen and Clerks School for Necessitous Children, and opened in its present location, off Claremont Road, in 1869. Boasting some really rather beautiful Victorian architecture as well as every modern convenience and luxury – including well-equipped classrooms, a swimming pool and extensive sports facilities – a school could hope for. Cheadle Hulme School is well known throughout Manchester and Cheshire for superb results and high expectations of all staff and pupils, and takes children from ages 4-18.
A short stroll across Hulme Hall Road and along Heathbank Road will lead you to yet another of the highly-regarded independent schools in Cheadle Hulme – Greenbank Preparatory School, motto ‘Nurturing Potential, Inspiring Dreams’. Greenbank, for children age 4-11, is just a mile out of the village centre, yet in a quiet, leafy location with its own grounds including an all-weather sports pitch and even a cricket pavilion. Like all the independent schools in Cheadle Hulme, Greenbank boasts small class sizes and state of the art facilities. With a thriving and inclusive Parents’ Association group as well as a nursery and pre-school, Greenbank offers children a lovely start to their education.
Previously a boys’ school and also a boarding school, Ramillies Hall School & Nursery now takes girls and boys from the ages of six months to sixteen years, and is a Mainstream Independent School offering a tailored education, particularly specialising in supporting those pupils with dyslexia or other learning difficulties.
