I LOVE Bramhall Dog Groomers – Proud TOP DOG Sponsor of Paws and Play ’22

28 Apr 2022

Bramhall Dog Groomers can’t wait – can you? There’s just over a week to go now until the long-awaited return of one of Bramhall’s favourite days out, our famous fun dog show, Paws and Play. Be sure to join us for a day full of fun, food, frolics, and DOGS! What’s not to love? Hopefully, the sun will play ball as well as the dogs…

Bramhall Dog Groomers – Perfect for Paws in the Park

We’re like a dog with a bone to confirm our headline Paws and Play ’22 sponsor. Fanfare please, for the BRILLIANT Bramhall Dog Groomers. Boutique, spa, and deli – all for dogs! It’s now almost a year since Bramhall’s very own Alejandra Solis, Ed Mascarenas and Ed’s husband Mike Messenger, set up shop in our lovely Village Square. WHAT a year it has been. Some people think Ed, Ali and Mike were brave to embark on a new venture at that time. However, we know the amazing, wonderful, hardworking, and determined people they are, so we always knew it would work.

Bramhall Dog Groomers

Bramhall Dog Groomers will of course be at Lumb Lane on Bank Holiday Monday. Be sure to pop over for a chat, some doggy treats, or grooming advice. Ali will be right at home – she was an integral part of Paws and Play from the very start, back in 2016. Back then, she headed the Friends of Lumb Lane park, the tireless volunteer group responsible for raising thousands of pounds to make the park a lovely, fun, and safe space for children to play. Ed and Mike are also Paws regulars and often starred as judges. They can’t WAIT for this year’s event – and neither can we!

Village Central Dog Groomers

We called in – as we often do, usually with a Plum Cake Café coffee – to catch up with Ed and Ali and find out all about Bramhall Dog Groomers and their plans for the business. The first thing you notice is the lovely, friendly welcome – which is for the dogs as much as their people – and the array of fantastic treats, toys, and doggy essentials. All are sourced from small independent suppliers, natural and organic where possible and never, EVER any rawhide. The rule of thumb is, if it’s good enough for Ali’s beloved little dog, Rosie, it’s good enough for Bramhall Dog Groomers. Already inside and waiting her turn was tiny toy poodle puppy, Bear. Then Adele called to collect the adorable Crumble, a rescue dog, from her appointment. Crumble looks beautiful and was in no hurry to leave. It’s quite some recommendation when a dog who’s had such a tough start is so happy there.

Ali tells me that opening Bramhall Dog Groomers is, quite literally, “a dream come true”. And surrounded by dogs and puppies, talking to everyone is the “Best. Job. EVER!” In fact, she says, it feels like a hobby. For Ali, living with cancer, the pandemic was especially tough, and running a village business is the antidote to a rotten and lonely time. Ed, the ultimate social butterfly, also struggled through lockdowns and restrictions. On top of isolation, he worried about his other business, his life’s work, Ed’s Hair on Bramhall Lane. It’ll take time for businesses to recover fully, but, with everyone’s support, they’ll recover and thrive.

Dogs LOVE Bramhall Dog Groomers – and it’s Mutual

Back to Bramhall Dog Groomers, though. It’s abundantly clear that Ed, Ali, and Mike ADORE dogs. It’s equally clear how much they love being part of the village. Everyone knows them, and vice versa – we lost count of how many waved a cheery hello or popped their heads in the door to say hi. And now it’s not only the residents who are friends, but the dogs too – often a dog will pull their owner over to the door to see their BDG friends. And hopefully, nab a little treat, too!

Perhaps this is no surprise. After all, Bramhall has to be one of the most dog-friendly villages ever. As if to illustrate the point, our friend Jo nipped in for treats for Lola and Arthur (and for a chat, obviously).

Bramhall Dog Groomers

Dogs Come First; They’re Family

Although the team LOVE their work and the business, the grooming aspect is taken very seriously indeed. For many breeds and types – for example, the ever-popular poodle crosses – grooming is an essential part of dog welfare. The same goes for nail clipping and teeth cleaning. Yes, you heard that right. Your dog’s teeth need cleaning. BDG can take care of it, but they’ll be happy to help you, too – and they sell all the equipment they use, so you’re assured of superb quality and value for money. There’s CCTV in the grooming area and everyone’s dog first aid-trained too – dogs’ safety and comfort are paramount. As Ed points out: “the dogs come first. Dogs are family.”

Part of the service is ensuring that appointments are pleasant, happy experiences for the dogs. Social visits are welcome and puppy grooms are encouraged to set off on the right foot (well, paw), and to get pups used to the sounds, smells – and vibrating brushes. It’s obvious, with each and every client, that the dogs LOVE their groomers – Sarah and Luke – and that the feeling is mutual. Sarah is clearly an expert, calm, quiet and confident, which transmits to the dogs. She loves dogs and, Ali says, is “a bit of a dog whisperer”. Apprentice Luke is also a natural, constantly cuddling or talking to a dog. Your dogs are in safe, kind, and expert hands at Bramhall Dog Groomers.
