I LOVE Club Cheadle Hulme

19 Jul 2017

Last September what used to be Cheadle Hulme Recreation Centre, was transferred to the amazing new Club Cheadle Hulme. It took an extensive refurbishment and help from Law Family Educational Trust but Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS) couldn’t be happier.

£1 million has been invested in the building, in order to provide an exciting new fitness experience, incorporating a brand-new gym, featuring the latest innovations and newest equipment. This upgrade – just the very startof a proposed £5,000,000 project – has been made possible by past Cheadle Hulme High School pupil Andrew Law, of the Law Family Educational Trust, part of the Law Family Charitable Foundation. This Foundation was set up in 2011 to support the Laurus Trust – the multi-academy trust with Cheadle Hulme High School at its very heart.

Those who, like me, remember the ‘sports centre’ from their PE lessons through the 80s and 90s will simply be blown away by the transformation. The facilities – including fresh and classy new changing rooms – bear absolutely no resemblance to those we had back in the day. As Andrew Law explained at the official opening, back in December, money – including for such fantastic facilities – IS necessary in sport. However, it’s a sad fact that around 80% of top professionals and sportspeople come from a private school background – and yet about 90% of all children are actually state-educated. So, Club Cheadle Hulme is a superb addition to the already top performing and incredibly sought-after Cheadle Hulme Hugh School. The good news doesn’t end there, however. Out of school hours, these state-of-the-art facilities are available to all. State of the art facilities – and a friendly, supportive and knowledgeable team.

Club Cheadle Hulme

Club Cheadle Hulme offers excellent indoor and outdoor sporting facilities and the immense sports hall is available for block and casual bookings. On offer are a wide range of sporting activities including badminton, basketball, cricket, football, netball, table tennis and tennis.  There’s a magnificent dance studio, complete with sprung floor, and a brand-new fitness gym with extremely reasonable membership – and pay as you go, supervised sessions for 12-15 year olds.

Other highlights throughout the week include Boxercise; Fitness Yoga; KettFusion; Bums Legs & Tums; Pilates and Dance Fit. Over the Summer a new 3g Astroturf pitch will be completed – and is already in high demand! New classes and clubs are being added all the time – with the pay as you play Sunday Sports Club proving very popular indeed. Sunday Sports Club gives the whole family a fun session trying tennis, table tennis, badminton, football and basketball from 12.30-3.30pm.

Sports Centre Director and ex Stockport County footballer, Rob Clare, is immensely proud of what’s been achieved here. This pride is justified and positively shines from him! Club Cheadle Hulme has an undeniable ‘wow factor’. His vision is for the local community to gain as much from the facilities as possible, improving health and wellbeing throughout Cheadle Hulme. His enthusiasm for Club Cheadle Hulme’s mission is evident. He lives here in Cheadle Hulme and knew just what an opportunity this is – for the school, the sports centre AND the entire community. Assistant Manager, Mike Brickhill is equally enthusiastic. Both guarantee a warm welcome and all the help and support you need to get the very best from Club Cheadle Hulme.
