I LOVE Fuzzy Goose – the Cheshire Boutique in the Heart of Cheadle Hulme

12 Oct 2020

Fuzzy Goose is one of those little gems that every village should be lucky enough to have. An exclusive yet affordable little boutique for the ladies of Cheadle Hulme, Bramhall, Cheshire, and beyond.

Fuzzy Goose offers attainable glamour, often designer-inspired and always on-trend, as well as a brilliant range of gifts, jewellery, and accessories that you just won’t find in any old high street store. Plus, with owners Jo Hoddes and Catherine Roberts living nearby, this is a truly local, independent business.

Something New Every Time

Not so much a shop; more a showroom, Fuzzy Goose is a true boutique with an exclusive vibe yet refreshingly inclusive price tags. Nestled in a tranquil first-floor location on lovely, leafy Church Road, opposite the church and surrounded by trees, Jo and Catherine have created a true Cheshire village vibe. Something of a retreat with a guaranteed friendly welcome, a coffee (or a fizz) and a chat; customers quickly become friends and are often to be found lounging on the plush velvet sofa bedecked with scatter cushions. The rails burgeon with a superb collection of international fashion, and fresh new stock is added to at least twice a week, so there is something new to see – and try – every time you visit.

“We have really tried to make the showroom feel rather special” says Jo. “The idea is to make it feel high-end but then, when our customers see the price tags, they are pleasantly surprised. We want to offer a completely unique, genuinely personal service – but at reasonable prices”.

Personal Shopping as Standard

Fuzzy Goose also offer a relaxed, yet expert, one-to-one personal shopping and styling service, giving advice on clothes to suit your lifestyle and body shape.  Catherine has over 25 years’ experience in the fashion industry as a stylist and buyer for Selfridges, John Lewis, and House of Fraser, but more than that, she has a real talent, a knack, for putting outfits together, making them look good and thus making her clients look good. More importantly, she makes those clients FEEL good. Shopping at Fuzzy Goose is like shopping with a good friend. Catherine will guide you in the right direction and show you what suits and she’ll never tell you your bum looks big. She will, however, with her expert eye and industry know-how, help you make the most flattering, confidence-boosting choices.

Loving Cheadle Hulme

Jo’s Cheadle Hulme credentials are second-to-none. She grew up in Cheadle Hulme, a happy product of Hursthead then Cheadle Hulme High School and has been friends with both me – Kate – and Wendy since school days. Like mine, her children followed her educational footsteps and, like me, she has nothing but praise for our local schools. She loves that our children – like those of so many more of our mutual friends – have grown up together and are continuing the friendships into the next generation.

Jo and Catherine have also known each other many years and first met when Catherine worked as a stylist and personal shopper at House of Fraser. She was, says Jo, “simply AMAZING”. Both ladies have something else in common – they both owned designer children’s wear boutiques. Jo had Chaos in Alderley, while Catherine owned one of my favourites, Kiddywinks. Somewhere, there will be photos of my oldest, Joe of SKFC, in adorable ensembles from Kiddywinks, which was next to ladies’ cruise wear shop, Maggie Duncan, in the beautiful old building which is now home to quirky neighbourhood bar, Inventery.

Looking Good; Feeling Better

Both ladies always look AMAZING, but both will admit they have their body hang-ups and insecurities. They are very real, and down to earth. That’s why they KNOW how to dress. Fuzzy Goose has something for everyone, in dress sizes 6-18, and always specially selected to suit real women – and make them look and feel fabulous.

Community Counts

Fuzzy Goose is a big part of the vibrant and welcoming Cheadle Hulme community. Always at the forefront of community initiatives such as the Bramhall and Woodford Rotary’s Scarecrow Festival, Fuzzy Goose support local fundraising events too, always happy to offer a prize and to drum up lots more support. Jo is currently spearheading the rather lovely Carr Woods Fairy Trail and she and Catherine have had great success putting on spectacular fashion shows.

In the last couple of years alone, they have helped to raise over £50,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust, Frances House, East Cheshire Hospice, Prevent Breast Cancer, St Ann’s Hospice and Once Upon A Smile, through events such as:Glitterati – Teenage Cancer Trust £10,000 Hallmark, Handforth

  • *Ladies Lunch – Frances House £6,000 Palace Hotel, Manchester
