I Love LIT
20 Nov 2019Brand new lighting store LIT opened at Stanley Green Retail Park last weekend – I Love Cheadle Hulme couldn’t resist popping in for some cake and a catch-up with owners Steve Crozier and Jill Rose, who gave us the lowdown on what’s in store.
Shortly after turning into the retail park and taking a couple of rights you can’t fail to spot the beautifully ‘lit’ up sign announcing that you’ve arrived at the right place – which is next to Apex Storage, in case you need a beacon to aim for.
We popped in on opening day to be greeted by friendly faces, lots of lovely refreshments and some wonderful background music, courtesy of Jill’s son Jacob. Along with Jill’s daughter and son Dylan, the family lives together over in Bramhall, Steve having moved across from Oldham a few years ago.
A well-known skilled electrician, Steve has worked on a self-employed basis as SCZ Electrical Services for almost two decades, while partner Jill has worked as a teacher for the last 20 years.Opening a shop has been a lifelong dream for both Steve and Jill, so they’re understandably over the moon with their premises, which are warm, welcoming and brightly lit – not that we’d expect anything less, given Steve’s expertise!
Steve fitted all the lighting in the shop himself and it’s safe to say that he’s outdone himself in showcasing the individual appeal of different types of lights.
Installation is a service offered alongside purchases from the store, and there’s plenty to choose from, including pendant ceiling lights, wall lamps, spotlights and smart lights. Fitting is free on selected products and some purchases include free bulbs, too, so pop in to LIT and see if something catches your eye.
Whether you want to install something dazzlingly modern to attract attention in the hallway or create a relaxed atmosphere with dimmable lamps for the bedroom, LIT is the place to go. And if you like something you see but would prefer it in another colour or style, simply speak to Jill or Jacob and they’ll check whether variations are available.
There’s only so much that can be stocked under one roof but there are thousands of light fittings to look at via the catalogue. Orders for items not in stock can usually be delivered and fitted within a week, so you won’t have to wait long to receive your lights and start transforming your home.
Jill or Jacob will be working at LIT seven days a week, from 10am until 5pm on weekdays, 9am until 5pm on Saturdays and from 11am until 4pm on Sundays. Meanwhile, Steve will continue with his daily jobs catering for clients across Cheadle Hulme, Bramhall and beyond.
Steve’s services come highly rated by local clients and SCZ Electrical is fully insured and accredited to work in any building. Steve is also approved in Part P of the Building Regulations and registered with compliance body STROMA, giving customers complete peace of mind that he’s up to virtually any job – from adding sockets to installing electrics in the garden.
