I Love Loona

5 Mar 2020

For years, food fans in Cheadle Hulme and the surrounding areas have been blessed with an abundance of restaurants offering a range of cuisine.

Locals have been spoilt with eateries offering Chinese, Italian and American, as well as hearty, English pub food. Now, those seeking a dose of culinary diversity will be delighted to hear that there is a new addition to the Station Road selection, with Loona dishing up delicious Middle Eastern food.

Loona was founded August 2019, with the family incorporating an array of knowledge gained during a twenty-year period in the food and drink industry. As residents of Cheadle Hulme, they identified the village as the perfect location for the venture, after identifying a gap in the local market for a Middle Eastern restaurant.

Loona deviates from the common options currently being offered to prospective clientele, with a diverse menu offering a breadth of dishes, including an assortment of kebabs, mezzes and traditional desserts, to name but a few.

With its delicious flavours and extensive range of dishes, Lebanese food has consolidated its reputation as a popular option for city dwellers; there is a repertoire of Middle Eastern eateries situated in central Manchester and on the outskirts of the city. Yet, despite its undoubted popularity, an apparent demand hasn’t been acknowledged by restaurateurs based in the suburbs, with Loona the sole Lebanese establishment in Cheadle Hulme.

Despite the array of restaurants located in amongst the bright lights of Manchester city centre, Loona continues to shine, with many visiting the local gem to enjoy a sumptuous meal amid a beautifully decorated, traditional interior.

While the UK offers great benefits culturally, there’s often criticism levelled towards its perceived lack of distinguishable cuisine. Instead, many people decide to indulge in food from around the globe; Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Mexican and Italian foods are often regarded as being the most popular in the country.

However, the emergence of Lebanese food and restaurants specialising in Middle Eastern food could provide a significant challenge to the status quo, particularly given the options that are available for vegetarians.

While Loona provides its visitors with an array of delicious, non-vegetarian options, this doesn’t hinder the offerings available for non-meat eaters. There are an impressive twenty-two starters on the menu that are all suitable for vegetarians, ensuring that even the fussiest of eaters will be spoilt for choice.

Irrespective of Loona’s relative infancy, the highly acclaimed addition to Station Road has already generated a fanfare; food enthusiasts seeking new flavours are continuing to head to the restaurant, with many leaving having sampled flavoursome food that differs from the mainstream offerings of its neighbouring establishments.
