I LOVE Not Just Travel – Waiting World with Lucy Allen
21 Sep 2017Holidays are special, so it makes sense to plan your trip with someone who is passionate about travel and seeing the world. Step forward, then, Lucy Allen, a personal travel consultant at Not Just Travel – Waiting World.
Whether it’s a trip of a lifetime, a world cruise, a dream honeymoon – or a country cottage break in the UK – Not Just Travel – Waiting World aims to make it perfect.
Lucy
Lucy’s love for the world started young. She’s been travelling since she was tiny and lived in Australia as a child and the US – including California. More recently, Spain was home for a while, namely Madrid, which is still clearly a favourite. Travelling the world and living abroad has, says Lucy, been ‘character building’, giving a real insight into ‘people, cultures and adventures…’
Lucy studied a language degree at Manchester, and ‘just stayed’, as she loved the people. Community spirit up North and specifically around Cheadle and Cheadle Hulme are fantastic, so this is where she’s been for the last 9 years – and where she plans to stay. Or at least to have roots while she continues exploring the world (for market research, naturally!) As she puts it, she’s ‘very well-travelled – but always willing to learn more!’.
Lucy’s entire career has been in travel. Her early experience was in big, big travel brands – names such as LateRooms and Radisson – where she got to know hotels and destinations inside-out. When the time came to strike out alone, Lucy knew a franchise was the way forward. The best of both worlds, if you like. Booking with Lucy and Not Just Travel – Waiting World gives you your very own personal travel expert who ‘eats, sleeps, and breathes travel’, with the support and ABTA/ATOL backing of a large company. It also gives Lucy links and contacts, so she knows exactly who best to speak to about every destination.
Lucy’s expertise is in Spain and the Balearics, Italy and Mexico as well as Las Vegas and L.A, so her knowledge is diverse, to say the least. Her favourite destination is probably Sri Lanka – mainly due to the people there – as that’s where she spent her honeymoon. Where would someone who plans dream holidays go for THEIR dream holiday? Probably somewhere tropical, Lucy tells me, maybe island hopping in the Caribbean. She’s heard loads of great things about Cape Town and would be interested to go there. That said, city breaks are also fabulous – a chance to see and experience a snapshot of a country. Everyone goes to Barcelona, but Lucy tells me ‘Seville is gorgeous. Madrid is often overlooked and it’s ‘very Spanish and vibrant, yet manageable – you can walk everywhere’. Rome is busy and passionate, with fantastic food, Lisbon is a brilliant place to go – but if hot’s not your thing then Bruges is beautiful. Like a chocolate box’
We’re becoming more and more adventurous with holidays. Columbia and Costa Rica are popular – the beaches are gorgeous (great for scuba diving) and the wildlife incredible. Canada is celebrating its 150th anniversary so there are LOADS of national events and celebrations planned. Adventure Holidays and outdoor pursuits are a big thing, too. Not Just Travel – Waiting World can plan all these – and more.
It’s more important than ever, then, to get real expert guidance. As Lucy says ‘you probably wait all year for your holiday, and it’s a big investment – so it should be special. It should be exactly what YOU want’. Lucy is genuinely interested in her clients and their holidays. The service is totally bespoke and personal – almost like a concierge. Not Just Travel – Waiting World can find you the best steak restaurant, arrange flowers and champagne in your room, sort out fast-track Disney tickets – or organise an incredible cycling adventure through Vietnam. Not Just Travel – Waiting World work with over 400 leading travel suppliers yet ensure personal service coupled with absolute peace-of-mind. There’s no stress, no call centres – just a whole other level of customer care. A testament to that is that Lucy’s customers quickly become friends. Their next adventure will often be planned over coffee and cake!
It’s almost an honour that Lucy loves Cheadle Hulme so much. The John Millington and Gusto are favourite haunts, though she’s looking forward to trying La Casetta in the Shopping Centre. She also loves the March Hare – especially in Winter, when the real fire is roaring! Mainly though, Lucy loves to travel – and that’s why she’s passionate about your holiday and make sure you LOVE it too.
