I LOVE Rainbow88 at Christmas

Rainbow88, in Cheadle Hulme shopping centre, was already fantastic but, almost unbelievably, Linda and new partner Steven are STILL going the extra mile to make it better and better. If you’ve not been recently, pop in – even if it’s only for a drink or to pick up a takeaway – you’re in for a treat.

The food has always been gorgeous but that continues to improve too – new additions to the menu complement old favourites and there’s more to come. New partner Steven is clearly a match made in heaven for the rest of the Rainbow88 team. He has slotted in like the missing piece of a puzzle and already just ‘belongs’. Amazingly, he shares Linda’s passion and work ethic and works just as hard. He’s also equally friendly and welcoming – they have a real rapport which is lovely to see. Steven seems already to know all his customers and greet them like old friends.

On popping in one evening recently, the smell was divine – proper tummy-rumbling stuff – and the atmosphere buzzing without being loud. There was a real mix of large tables, smaller groups and couples, as well as people who’d dropped in for a drink at the bar. The happy buzz of a party could be detected from the function room, too – what a fabulous local spot for a party booking. In fact, Linda and Steven will still be able to fit your party in (and they’re always happy to get the karaoke out later in the evening. Trust me, that’s always a good laugh and the perfect way to round off a brilliant evening. Just don’t let me near it. My children have never forgiven me for murdering Coldplay’s Fix You!) They’re licensed until 1am, too.

You will most definitely be served with a smile by the new Team rainbow which now has Linda, Steven, Luina and Shereen and Qin the new head chef will be smiling in the kitchen as he’s conscientiously preparing your delicious meal!

Qin’s joined Rainbow88 from China and can tailor an authentic Chinese meal to your exact requirements. Also popular now are the Japanese ramen and noodles, Udon dishes, pickled vegetables, authentic steamed dim sum, utterly DELICIOUS steak rolls in black pepper sauce and garlic, curried chicken samosas and PROPER Peking hot-and-sour soup. Hungry yet? I am! There will be more new dishes, too – watch this space. Steven worked locally but really wanted to take the next step of owning a business. He ‘reminds me of my own beginnings’, says Linda – which is definitely a good thing for both. For Steven, nothing is too much trouble and service is everything.

As one diner put it: ‘we LOVE the new food’. Linda and Steven will be guided by such feedback…

Linda is literally LOVING having a business partner – although she’s not stepping away at all. This means she can travel to see Mummy Lam, or visit Yasmin. Linda never imagined she’d be able to trust anyone to take care of Rainbow88 like she does – but Steven is the perfect partner, with the same aims and the same love of supporting charity. For Steven, Linda’s like a ‘big sister’. He too loves Cheadle Hulme and his customers, old and new.
