I LOVE Station Road Opticians

17 Feb 2021

Station Road Opticians are no longer the new kids on the block. Mind you, they’re still very definitely the cool kids. The cool, speccy kids, no less. Incredibly, it’s now THREE whole years since they first opened their doors. Immediately, they brightened up their little corner of Cheadle Hulme.

Back then, owner Deepak said that Station Road Opticians aimed to be totally different from other local opticians. Mission accomplished. Even the Station Road Optician window is Cheadle Hulme’s very own ever-changing and always-cheery artwork. Everything about Station Road Optician epitomises what they want to do – save the world from mediocre glasses.

2020 Vision

The past year has been a turbulent one, and times have been trying for Station Road Opticians, too. At least through the latest lockdown, opticians have been able to stay open. With as much dedication to Covid-security and compliance as looking after the eyes of Cheadle Hulme, Deepak says

“working through the challenges has also enabled us to grow and adapt for the better”.

Station Road Opticians has always done things a bit differently, so working one-to-one with clients on an appointment-only basis is nothing new.  This is, Deepak feels, the best way to help clients have their ‘eureka’ moment, when they find THE perfect super-stylish, individual eyewear to look and feel amazing. And, as Deepak points out,

“we have ALWAYS been here for our clients to provide advice or answer questions by phone or email, too”.

Another hangover from this past year is that many of us are spending more time than ever on screens. It’s little wonder some feel their vision has worsened. Eyestrain and eye problems seem rife, as well as headaches, tired eyes, burning eyes and blurred vision. Deepak calls it the ‘Zoom Phenomenon’. There’s been a lot of research about these problems – and a new digital-focussed lens has effectively helped lots of clients.

Signature Service in Style

At Station Road optician, service, style and safety all go hand-in-hand. Clients have appreciated that truly personalised service, which affords a relaxed experience. They love the luxury of plenty of time to talk about their eyecare and eyewear needs. More than ever, everyone at Station Road Optician is dedicated to that signature 1:1 service approach going forward.

Tricky year or not, 2020 still had its highlights. Station Road Opticians were short-listed for two Optician Awards in 2020 – Fashion Practice of the year and Social Media practice of the year. Deepak tells me

“Being recognised as a leading UK optician when it comes to independent, design-led (and very cool!) eyewear was such a high point. And it has also given us a strong impetus to continue improving our online connection and engagement with clients as well as the wider Cheadle Hulme community.”

Looking Good and Looking After Eyesight

The glasses are undeniably chic, the atmosphere laid back and the practice delightfully quirky. Vitally, the opticians are also at the very top of their game. Don’t ever imagine Station Road Opticians deliver style over substance. Far from it. Yes, Deepak says, ‘glasses are an accessory, the equivalent of jewellery for your face’. We’re all happy to splash the cash on jewellery, makeup, hair accessories – but glasses literally frame the face so it’s vital to get them perfect. Station Road Opticians are only happy when you are.

Station Road Opticians are specialists in the coolest of eyewear. They are also expertly health and service focused. Sight tests with other opticians usually take under half-an-hour. With Station Road Optician, you are assured of more time and undivided attention. The equipment here at Station Road optician is hospital-grade – eye tests and visual health issues can flag many serious conditions and potential problems long before other symptoms show.

Eye tests could detect an aneurysm, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even some cancers. A thorough eye test, with the right technology, can literally save life as well as eyesight.

Spec-tacular as Standard

Never underestimate the magic of finally getting GOOD glasses though. Those Eureka and Hallelujah moments are a regular occurrence and clients have even been moved to tears. For too long, glasses have been merely about form and function – and, for children especially, often an excuse for teasing. Deepak recalls a gentleman last year, who explained he had a terminal health condition, but had always wanted electric blue glasses.

“We found him his perfect pair, and he absolutely loved them. He passed away a few months later – but his wife came in to tell us his glasses made him smile until his last breath.”

The right glasses don’t just help you see. They can help you see yourself differently.

Helping clients change how they look and feel, simply by finding them the right pair of specs, is standard at Station Road Opticians. Many people struggle to get glasses that suit. Many opticians leave them to their own devices to choose frames. It can all be a bit hit and miss. That’s not the way it’s done at Station Road Optician, as Deepak explains

“we hand-select super-stylish, individual frames from around the world, during relaxed styling consultations. The result is an enjoyable experience and eyewear truly tailored to your needs and styles. Look at our reviews to see how much it matters to people.”

A Reputation On Your Face

Station Road Optician’s ‘reputation walks around on your face’ and so they do their upmost to get everything right, whatever it takes. Station Road Opticians aren’t only saving the world from mediocre glasses. They’re saving Cheadle Hulme from rushed eye tests, sub-standard service and poor eye health.
