I LOVE the Fantastic New Development at Cheadle Hulme Amalgamated Sports Club.
17 Apr 2019Five years ago, fund-raising began in earnest for the desperately needed upgrade at Cheadle Hulme Amalgamated Sports Club. Cheadle Hulme Amalgamated Sports Club is a partnership between two age old local sports clubs – Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge Cricket Club and Cheadle Hulme Lacrosse Club.
Despite the clubs’ many successes and loyal members, the facilities were in dire need of improvement. However, anyone could see that the potential was immense. Club officials and members knew there was a daunting task ahead. The investment needed would run into several hundred thousand pounds…
Exciting Times Ahead
Now, thanks to three major grants AND a new partnership with Ivy Church, Cheadle Hulme Amalgamated Sports Club is about to be reinvigorated. The club can excitedly look forward to fantastic facilities and the dawn of a bright, new era. It all starts NOW.
Phase one, the construction of the superb new sports pavilion is already well under way and will be completed this Spring. This will allow Cheadle Hulme Amalgamated Sports Club to provide excellent facilities for new players from our local community. All abilities and levels of experience are welcome. The club will also be able to work closely and more effectively with local schools and groups. They can also set up new teams – including long awaited women’s teams. Exciting times indeed.
New Facilities, New Beginnings
The new facility will include a large meeting room which will be available to local groups – and, importantly, kept very affordable. There will also be a well-equipped kitchen area and three comfortable, fresh new changing rooms. There’ll be new practice facilities to help develop young players whilst the new sports pavilion and patio will provide a welcome for spectators. New life and vibrancy is finally coming to this great site.
Ivy Church has bought the old, tired and frankly rather run-down social club on the site. Ivy Church is a modern and vibrant community church and can’t wait to breath new life into the site and providing opportunities for the community to meet and grow in the heart of Cheadle Hulme. Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with Ivy to provide fantastic sporting AND community facilities for everyone in and around Cheadle Hulme.
A Club at the Heart of Cheadle Hulme
In case you haven’t visited before, or attended a function there, Cheadle Hulme Amalgamated Sports Club is located just off the top of Meadway Road – about 150 metres from Cheadle Hulme shopping centre. There will be an open day in Spring to showcase the new facilities and the club would LOVE to hear from cricket and lacrosse players of all ages and abilities who might be interested in joining. Any local groups that may be looking for meeting facilities locally are welcome to pop in for a nosy, too.
Building on Firm Foundations
Last year, the Lacrosse Section celebrated their 125th anniversary. Founded in 1893, Cheadle Hulme lacrosse club is one of the oldest in the world. The club now has 126 years of teamwork, dedication, inclusion and passion behind then – and to build upon. They’re ready to Faceoff for another 125 years now!
The cricket section has already started indoor practice on Sunday evenings at Parrs Wood School and they’d love to welcome new players. To get in some pre-season practice, please email [email protected]. You can follow the club’s progress on twitter @CheadleHulmeASC or the Cricket Club website; chlcc.weebly.com.
For those interested in a slightly more sedate sport, the club also has an active Bowls section. Keep your eyes peeled for more news for every part of CHASC. Are a player or a past player? Have any photos or anecdotes you’d like to share? Send them to Kate from I Love Cheadle Hulme.
Everyone involved with the club and Ivy Church looks forward to welcoming lots of new faces down to CHASC in 2019. You’re in for a pleasant surprise and a warm welcome. The developments at Cheadle Hulme Amalgamated Sports Club will deliver a community sports club we can all be proud of.
