I LOVED Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink for Prevent Breast Cancer

3 Oct 2016

I Love Cheadle Hulme were absolutely thrilled to be approached by Prevent Breast Cancer, and asked to spearhead the planning and organisation of Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink, a long weekend’s worth of Pink events and activities to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

We have been truly humbled by the way Cheadle Hulme residents, businesses and community groups have come together and it’s a huge THANK YOU to all involved – we couldn’t have done it without you.

A special THANK YOU to our little band of volunteers who attended every meeting and worked hard to get things moving, especially Adeona Travel’s Helen who co-ordinated the treasury.

The pink bunting started going up in shops and businesses throughout Cheadle Hulme early in September and by this weekend was nearly everywhere, in fact 52 businesses! THANK YOU!
Thank you for Painting Cheadle Hulme Pink!

Suzanna Dhawan, of Prevent Breast Cancer, said

‘What an amazing day yesterday Cheadle Hulme!”

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Artisan Market especially Julie at Pets Corner for helping to organise.

Thank you to all who took part in the parade and for really helping #PaintCheadleHulmePink – all the businesses, services, residents and visitors!

Thank you to the I Love Cheadle Hulme team – Wendy Green & Kate Godfrey – for being our platform of voices getting all our events out on social media.

Thank you to all the unsung heroes who shared their stories and memories of loved ones who have battled with breast cancer – together we will continue to find ways of preventing this disease. Cheadle Hulme, you have proved we are in this together. Thank you from the entire team, for welcoming us! ’

Proceedings began early in September with the Board Café Bar’s PINK menu. The (very) long weekend started on Wednesday with a Hope and Story Fashion Event at Gusto, compered by Shari Royale from Main & Main, closely followed by the brilliant Quiz Night at the John Millington (where the I Love Cheadle Hulme team came a respectable 3rd) The Governors House also held a quiz night with donations to the cause. Our local salons also had many special pink offers, including Chapel Holistics, The Retreat Rooms and Allure Pamper Palace – we were glad of some much-needed pamper time by Monday, believe us!

The Pink Pub Crawl began on Friday although the less intrepid were able to take Saturday and Sunday too. Our local hostelries were happy to get involved – The John Millington, The Chiverton Tap, The Hesketh, The Board Cafe, The Kenilworth, The Church Inn, The Governors and P5  donated takings from special pink drinks. One lucky pub crawler, Terry won £160 of vouchers for their efforts!

Saturday was the big day, with the Pink Parade – joined by Mary Robinson MP, local councillors and the deputy Mayor and Mayoress, the fire service and even a horse and carriage! DJ Paul from the aptly named Pink Banana warmed up the crowd. Whispers & PolkaDot face painting were on hand with pink hair dye and face paints.

paintcheadlehulmepink-ilovecheadlehulmeHundreds turned out, dressed in varying amounts of pink, the weather stayed kind, and once again, volunteers helped make it happen. The shoppers of Cheadle Hulme lined Station Road for us and the collection buckets were kept busy – yet another THANK YOU.

Pink Paraders headed into the Shopping Centre to the Artisan Market – the precinct was buzzing! Representatives from Stockport County also got involved, with a bag pack at Asda.

Hair was let down later at the Governors’ Mamma Mia night where it was superb to see many of our Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink Paraders celebrating – and all still in the pink!

Linda Lam of Rainbow88 kindly made Prevent Breast Cancer one of her causes at her 17 Anniversary Party on Sunday night, whilst the Church Inn rounded off the weekend with a Pink Party. Many other businesses participating with special offers and fund raising efforts.

We’d also like to thank the unsung heroes – our sponsors Drainage Consultants Limited and Bramhall Financial, as well as Dzinr for leaflet and banner design and the Governors House for the printing and all the volunteers that worked so hard to make this happen.

Final totals from Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink have yet to be worked out – watch this space – but we think we’ve all done amazingly – THANK YOU. We will be added more photos of the event soon but check out the Facebook gallery here
