ILoveCheadleHulme.com 1st birthday party
3 Feb 2017The great and good of Cheadle Hulme came together to celebrate the first official birthday of I Love Cheadle Hulme!
On Wednesday 1st February Kate and Wendy hosting our 1st birthday party with some of the members of ilovecheadlehulme.com. Although we began promoting local businesses, shops, groups, causes – and our village generally – back in November 2015, www.ilovecheadlehulme.com , the website, actually went live on 3 February 2016. Thank you so much to the wonderful Gav and his team at the John Millington for hosting – the food was amazing, and, as always, the atmosphere and ambience superb. I Love Cheadle Hulme LOVE working with you.

What a year it’s been. We really couldn’t have wished or hoped for anything better. The website and social media channels are performing brilliantly, with ‘likes’ and followers growing daily – all real, local people who want to support their local shops and traders. This means that not only can we really help our local businesses to thrive, but we can also help find lost dogs, cats and keys, reunite found teddy bears and offer a constantly updated source of information, recommendations, and fabulous old photos! I LOVE old photos of Cheadle Hulme.
Like I Love Bramhall – now in its FOURTH year – I Love Cheadle Hulme was born of a desire to build on our community spirit, to retain pride in our neighbourhood and to use and support our local businesses as well as groups, clubs, schools and other organisations. This year will see even more hard work to that end.

Recently we’ve set up a WhatsApp Neighbourhood alert system, so neighbours can talk to each other and keep an eye out in real time. We’re also honoured that our MP and councillors keep in touch, support what we do – and ask us to help them. Probably the highlight of the year was the unprecedented success of Paint Cheadle Hulme Pink, in support of the charity Prevent Breast Cancer. Susannah from the charity celebrated with us last night and freely admits that the event couldn’t have happened without I Love Cheadle Hulme.

From estate agents and theatre groups via hairdressers and beauty therapists to sports clubs and accountants, we were joined by so many of our members. The fizz flowed and the food was devoured, while the wonderful Paul Hazelby of Pink Banana, husband of Sue at Whispers, amazed and delighted us with his logic-defying magic tricks – even his son Jamie couldn’t begin to explain how he did most of them!

Wendy thanked side kick and Mrs Cheadle Hulme, Kate for her hard work this year (as well as for being great fun to work with) and cupcakes, Hayley and Claire of Your Support Team for their unstinting bookkeeping support, Stuart at Dzinr for their incredible website and design service and Steve of Zool for ensuring we can keep our members right up where they belong on Google’s Page 1!

We’d also like to thank all our Facebook likers (5,800+) and the 35,000 unique visitors to the website. YOU are Cheadle Hulme and as you know, I LOVE Cheadle Hulme!
