Sophie Dee School of Dance announce that they are offering LAMDA exams to their timetable

Sophie Dee School of Dance is a well known dance School giving over 500 pupils (18 months old, right up to adults) opportunities to be involved in shows, competitions and performances within in the community. Sophie Dee and her EIGHT fantastic teachers offer classes for EVERYONE – from serious dancers to those simply looking for a fabulous hobby!

The classes are fun and exciting – specialising in exceptional dance training in all genres … ballet, tap, modern, jazz, street dance, musical theatre and pre-school dance!

This is a wonderful Dance School which is NOW offering … LAMDA Examination Classes!

LAMDA is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding bodies helping hundreds of thousands of candidates of all ages and abilities develop lifelong skills:

  • Improve confidence in speaking and listening
  • Memorise and recall information
  • Research and create persuasive formal presentations
  • Create and defend arguments
  • Work both on his/her own and participate as a member of a team.

LAMDA exams are more than just about recognising and rewarding the endeavors of each individual, they about empowerment. The ultimate aim is to provide all people with the opportunity to develop the life skills they need to be a success: attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas.

Across the globe, LAMDA examinations unite learners of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and cultures in enthusiasm for the English language and a desire to develop skills for life.

The examinations are rooted in encouraging participants to develop a love of literature, poetry and drama and thus improve standards of communication through the spoken word.

LAMDA is recognised by Ofqual (more info on this on the LAMDA website). 

INTRODUCTORY EXAMS  | 5-7 years | 15/20 min private lesson required each week or every other week.

Develop basic communication skills and to engage in creative expression within a supportive environment.

PERFORMANCE EXAMS | 8 years upwards | 30 mins private lesson required each week or every other week

Acting – Students will prepare solo/duo acting pieces, focusing on character, performance, vocal skills and delivery and gain confidence analysing scripts.

Verse and Prose – Students will prepare sections of prose and selected poetry, focusing on engaging an audience, vocal technique and performance and gain confidence analysing text.

Musical Theatre – Develop acting and singing skills encouraging self-awareness, as learners are required to present believable characters through both acting and song.
