Kate Godfrey

Copywriter & Brand Ambassador for Cheadle Hulme

Kate is Cheadle Hulme through-and-through. She lives in the village, just around the corner from her childhood home, where her parents still live. Some say she gets a nosebleed upon exiting SK8, but she’s improving, and we can vouch that she loves Bramhall and other local villages as much as Cheadle Hulme!

Kate attended first Lane End and then Cheadle Hulme High School, as did her four children. She’s worked here for many years, run small businesses here, organised events here, volunteered in junior football clubs here, volunteers as an animal scanner here and chaired community groups here. Eldest son, Joe, is now nearly as well known as the founding force of his own local business here, SK Football Coaching – SKFC, with which Kate also helps.

Before becoming a full-time writer and copywriter, Kate worked in marketing, advertising, and magazines, which means her writing is always on point. As a writer and copywriter Kate packs personality and promo into her prose, to ensure our members are in the spotlight. Kate knows Cheadle Hulme inside-out. She loves her home and village and LOVES to work with small businesses. Keeping Cheadle Hulme special and supporting those brilliant businesses in Cheadle Hulme and Bramhall matter to Kate – even more than spot-on spelling and grammar. So, way back in 2015, Kate jumped at the chance to set up I Love Cheadle Hulme with Wendy and sprinkle the I Love Bramhall magic on the village next door.

Like Wendy, free time doesn’t feature much in Kate’s world. With work, kids, dogs (three border collies – and counting) Kate doesn’t get to sit still much but, as she says, ‘if you want something doing, ask a busy person’. Given a chance, she likes horse riding, badminton and football (especially City). She also likes banana milkshake and NZ Sauvignon Blanc, though not together, but she detests raisins, olives and salted caramel. Another fervent supporter of local cafes, bars and restaurants, she’s also quite fond of evenings out in Manchester and loves her second home, too – the picturesque Llyn peninsula. She ALWAYS takes work with her. The girl just doesn’t stop.
